Becoming Her: Creating a Life You Don't Need a Vacation From
Jul 03, 2026By Coach Heather Owens, RN, BSN, MBA
Lately, I've been asking myself some really big questions.
What kind of woman do I want to become?
What kind of relationships do I want to have?
How do I love people deeply without losing myself?
How do I create a life that feels peaceful instead of chaotic?
And maybe the hardest question of all...
Can I still be kind, compassionate, and forgiving while finally setting healthy boundaries?
I think so many women struggle with this.
We want to love people well.
We want to see the good in others.
We want to help.
We want to forgive.
But somewhere along the way, many of us begin believing that being loving means always saying yes, always being available, always giving one more chance, and always putting everyone else's needs before our own.
I've learned that those things are not the same.
Love and boundaries can exist together.
Compassion and wisdom can walk hand in hand.
You can forgive someone and still decide they no longer have access to your peace.
That realization has changed me.
As I prepare to open LUMINAFIT, I thought the biggest transformation in my life would be building a fitness studio.
Instead, I've discovered that the greatest renovation is happening inside of me.
I'm not becoming someone different.
I'm becoming more of who I was created to be.
A woman who is still loving...
Still encouraging...
Still compassionate...
But also more confident.
More intentional.
More organized.
More peaceful.
More decisive.
I'm learning that confidence isn't becoming harder.
It's becoming clearer.
Clear about who you are.
Clear about your values.
Clear about the relationships you want to nurture.
Clear about the boundaries that protect your peace.
Clear about the life you're intentionally creating.
Because the life I've always dreamed about isn't built through one giant leap.
It's built through hundreds of small, intentional choices made with love, courage, wisdom, and consistency.
The Woman I'm Becoming
I still want to be the woman who smiles at strangers.
Who compliments another woman just because she deserves to hear something kind.
Who encourages people.
Who helps when she can.
Who celebrates someone else's success as if it were her own.
I never want to lose my softness.
In fact, I believe softness is one of the greatest strengths a woman can have.
But softness doesn't require self-sacrifice.
Kindness doesn't require people-pleasing.
Forgiveness doesn't require unlimited access.
And love doesn't require abandoning yourself.
I'm learning that I can have a heart that is wide open while also having boundaries that are healthy.
I'm becoming bolder.
More decisive.
More peaceful.
More intentional.
I'm learning that confidence doesn't mean being the loudest person in the room.
Confidence is quietly trusting yourself.
It's honoring your intuition.
It's recognizing when something—or someone—is no longer aligned with the woman you're becoming.
And having the courage to lovingly choose peace.
Action Steps to Begin Becoming Her
If you've made it this far, I want you to know something.
You don't have to change your entire life this week.
Transformation isn't built in one weekend.
It's built one decision at a time.
Here are a few small ways you can begin today.
This Week's Challenge
Choose just one area of your life to simplify.
Maybe it's...
-
Cleaning out one drawer.
-
Organizing your purse.
-
Creating a home for your keys.
-
Unsubscribing from emails that no longer serve you.
-
Putting every appointment on your calendar.
-
Donating clothes you no longer wear.
-
Saying "no" to one commitment that doesn't align with your priorities.
-
Taking one slow walk without looking at your phone.
-
Spending ten uninterrupted minutes truly listening to someone you love.
Don't underestimate the power of small changes.
Small actions repeated consistently create extraordinary lives.
Healthy Boundary Challenge
This week, ask yourself these questions whenever someone asks for your time, energy, or attention:
-
Does this relationship bring me peace or constant chaos?
-
Am I saying yes because I truly want to—or because I feel guilty?
-
Am I helping this person, or am I rescuing them?
-
Does this relationship allow me to be my authentic self?
-
Is this relationship helping me become the woman I want to be?
Remember...
Boundaries aren't walls.
They're doors.
You decide who gets access to your heart, your time, and your energy.
Peace Challenge
Practice saying this throughout your day:
"There is no hurry."
When you're standing in line...
Driving...
Making coffee...
Walking into work...
Pause.
Take one deep breath.
Look around.
Notice something beautiful.
Smile at someone.
Experience the moment you're already living.
Life isn't waiting for you somewhere in the future.
It's happening right now.
Journal Prompts
Find a quiet place, grab your favorite journal, and spend some time with these questions.
Don't rush your answers.
Listen to your heart.
Becoming Her
-
Who am I becoming?
-
What kind of woman do I want to be remembered as?
-
What qualities do I admire most in other women that I want to cultivate in myself?
Relationships
-
Who consistently brings peace into my life?
-
Who leaves me feeling emotionally exhausted?
-
Where am I confusing love with obligation?
-
What relationship may need a healthier boundary?
-
What would change if I believed that protecting my peace was an act of self-respect rather than selfishness?
Home & Environment
-
What in my physical space feels heavy?
-
What could I simplify this week?
-
If my home reflected the peace I want to feel, what would I change first?
Presence
-
Where am I rushing through life?
-
What moments am I missing because I'm always thinking about what's next?
-
How can I slow down enough to truly experience today?
Self-Reflection
-
What am I proud of myself for today?
-
What am I grateful for?
-
Did I make someone's day a little brighter?
-
Did I keep a promise to myself?
-
Did I live in alignment with the woman I'm becoming?
A Letter From Coach Heather ❤️
Sweet friend,
If no one has told you lately...
I'm proud of you.
I'm proud of you for showing up.
I'm proud of you for continuing to grow.
I'm proud of you for reading this because it tells me that somewhere inside you is a woman who believes there's more waiting for her.
Not more success.
More peace.
More joy.
More confidence.
More purpose.
More love.
You don't have to become someone else to create an extraordinary life.
You simply have to become more of who you already are.
Keep your kindness.
Keep your compassion.
Keep your beautiful heart.
The world needs more women who encourage instead of compete.
Who celebrate instead of compare.
Who choose grace over judgment.
Who make other people feel seen.
But don't forget something equally important...
You deserve that same kindness.
You deserve relationships that feel safe.
You deserve to be spoken to with respect.
You deserve to rest without guilt.
You deserve to protect your peace.
You deserve to say no without apologizing.
You deserve to create a home, a calendar, and a life that feels like an exhale instead of a constant emergency.
As you move through this next season, I hope you'll remember this:
The strongest women aren't the ones who never struggle.
They're the ones who continue choosing love, courage, and hope—even when life feels messy.
So smile at strangers.
Compliment another woman.
Laugh often.
Take the long way home every now and then.
Drink your coffee slowly.
Move your body because you love it, not because you hate it.
Forgive freely.
But remember...
Forgiveness does not require repeated access.
Protect your peace.
Honor your heart.
Trust your intuition.
Become the woman you were created to be.
One intentional choice at a time.
I'm cheering for you every step of the way.
With so much love,
Coach Heather đź’ś
