Your Soft Era: Stop Chasing and Start Becoming Her
Nov 06, 2026By Coach Heather Owens, RN, BSN, MBA
Beautiful soul…
Come a little closer for this one.
Because this isn’t surface-level.
This isn’t just a trend.
This isn’t about doing less because you gave up.
This is about a deeper shift.
A shift in the way you live.
The way you love.
The way you move through your life.
The way you see yourself.
We’re talking about your Soft Era.
And I need you to hear me clearly from the beginning:
Soft is not weak.
Soft is not passive.
Soft is not settling.
Soft is not letting life happen to you.
Soft is not shrinking yourself.
Soft is a woman who is regulated.
Soft is a woman who is grounded.
Soft is a woman who is self-led.
Soft is a woman who feels emotionally safe within herself.
Soft is a woman who is no longer available for chaos.
It is the version of you who does not have to grip life anymore.
The Version of Me Who Was Not Soft
There was a version of me that was not soft.
And I do not mean I was simply ambitious, structured, or driven.
I mean I was pushing.
I was trying to earn love.
I was trying to prove myself.
I was trying to prove I was enough.
I was trying to prove I was lovable.
I was trying to prove I was worthy of being chosen.
And I did that the only way I knew how.
By overgiving.
Overthinking.
Over-functioning.
Over-showing up.
Overexplaining.
Trying to hold everything together.
I was not relaxed in my life.
I was gripping it.
I was trying to control how I was perceived.
I was trying to control how people felt about me.
I was trying to control whether I was chosen.
I was trying to control whether I felt secure.
And if I am being really honest, I thought if I just did everything right, then maybe I would finally feel safe.
If I loved enough…
gave enough…
showed up enough…
held everything together enough…
then maybe I would finally feel chosen.
Maybe I would finally feel at peace.
But instead?
I felt exhausted.
I felt hyper-aware.
I felt like I was always “on.”
I felt like even when things were good, I could not fully relax into them.
Because deep down, I did not feel safe just being me.
I felt like I had to earn my place.
And that is one of the most draining ways a woman can live.
Why We Chase
Let’s take the shame out of this.
Women do not chase because they are “too much.”
Women chase because somewhere inside, they do not feel safe.
Not safe in their body.
Not safe in love.
Not safe in being chosen without effort.
Not safe in being held without proving.
Not safe in receiving without performing.
Chasing sounds like:
“If I don’t do something, I’ll lose this.”
“If I don’t show up perfectly, I won’t be enough.”
“If I don’t hold this together, it will fall apart.”
“If I don’t keep giving, they may leave.”
That is not your personality.
That is a nervous system pattern.
That is survival.
And here is the truth that changed my life:
You cannot fully receive love when you are still trying to prove you deserve it.
Because proving is tight.
Proving is anxious.
Proving is exhausting.
And love?
Love lands in softness.
The Shift That Changed Everything
My Soft Era did not start when life got easier.
It started when I got honest.
I realized I was tired of performing.
I was tired of chasing.
I was tired of needing constant reassurance.
I was tired of feeling like everything depended on me.
And I made a quiet, powerful decision.
I decided to become the woman who feels safe, loved, and chosen from within.
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
Not in some unrealistic, magical way.
But intentionally.
I started asking myself:
What would the grounded version of me do?
What would the woman who trusts herself choose?
What would the woman who knows her worth stop tolerating?
What would the woman who feels chosen stop chasing?
And slowly, I began to change.
What My Soft Era Looked Like in Real Life
I want to make this real because this is not just theory.
My Soft Era did not look like becoming lazy.
It looked like coming home to myself.
I slowed down.
I started regulating my body instead of overriding it.
I started moving differently.
Soft yoga.
Walking.
Stretching.
Breathing.
Being in my body instead of constantly living in my head.
I started listening to myself more.
Not just what my mind was saying, but what my body was saying.
Was I tense?
Was I exhausted?
Was I forcing?
Was I abandoning myself to be liked, loved, or chosen?
And I leaned into my sensuality.
Not for attention.
Not for validation.
Not to be seen by anyone else.
But to feel myself.
There were moments when I would put on music, close the door, and move slowly.
Playful.
Feminine.
Present.
Alive.
Sometimes in lingerie.
Sometimes in my own skin.
Sometimes just in a quiet little moment where I let myself feel beautiful, soft, and connected to myself.
Not to post.
Not to perform.
Not for anyone else.
But to see myself.
To feel myself.
To stop waiting for someone else to reflect back to me that I was beautiful, desired, valuable, and alive.
And something shifted.
I stopped asking, “Do you choose me?”
And I started embodying, “I feel chosen.”
That is a different energy.
That is a different woman.
The Psychology of Becoming Magnetic
Your brain is always collecting evidence for who you believe you are.
So when you live in overthinking, overgiving, and seeking validation, your brain starts wiring the belief:
“I am not enough yet.”
“I need to do more.”
“I have to earn this.”
“I am only safe when I am performing.”
And when you repeat that long enough, it starts to feel normal.
But when you begin honoring yourself, keeping promises to yourself, moving with intention, and feeling your own energy, your brain begins collecting new evidence.
Evidence that says:
I am worthy.
I am loved.
I am safe.
I am desirable.
I am already enough.
This is where confidence starts to become embodied.
Not just something you say in the mirror.
Something you feel.
And when you start feeling different, your energy changes.
When your energy changes, the way you move through the world changes.
And when the way you move through the world changes, everything around you begins to respond differently.
That is what people call magnetic.
But really?
It is self-trust.
It is nervous system safety.
It is embodiment.
It is a woman finally coming back home to herself.
What Soft Actually Feels Like
Soft does not feel like weakness.
Soft feels like an exhale.
Soft feels like peace.
Soft feels like clarity.
Soft feels like confidence.
Soft feels like groundedness.
Soft is walking into a room and not needing anything from anyone.
Soft is being able to pause instead of react.
Soft is knowing, “If this disrupts my peace, it does not belong to me.”
Soft is not chasing what is meant for you.
Soft is not abandoning yourself to be picked.
Soft is not forcing people to see your value.
Soft is not begging for the bare minimum.
Soft is choosing yourself so deeply that you no longer confuse chaos with chemistry.
You no longer confuse anxiety with love.
You no longer confuse overgiving with connection.
You no longer confuse being needed with being cherished.
That is the Soft Era.
How to Step Into Your Soft Era
Let’s make this real.
Because becoming soft is not about waiting for life to become perfect.
It is about practicing a different way of being.
1. Regulate Before You React
Your power is in your pause.
Before you send the text… pause.
Before you explain yourself again… pause.
Before you chase clarity from someone who keeps creating confusion… pause.
Breathe.
Feel.
Come back to yourself.
You do not have to respond from fear.
You can respond from your grounded self.
2. Stop Overgiving to Be Chosen
You do not earn love by abandoning yourself.
You do not become more lovable by exhausting yourself.
The right people do not need you to perform your worth.
Your Soft Era asks you to notice where you are giving from fear instead of love.
Are you giving because it feels aligned?
Or are you giving because you are afraid of what will happen if you stop?
That question will tell you so much.
3. Create Moments Where You Feel Your Own Energy
Dance.
Move.
Stretch.
Walk.
Put on music.
Slow down.
Feel your body again.
So many women are disconnected from their own energy because they are constantly trying to manage everyone else’s.
Your body is not just something to fix.
Your body is a place to come home to.
Movement is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with yourself.
Not as punishment.
Not because you hate your body.
Not because you are trying to become worthy.
But because you are alive.
4. Let People Show You Who They Are
Stop forcing.
Stop fixing.
Stop chasing potential.
Observe.
Choose.
A soft woman is not naive.
A soft woman is deeply aware.
She does not need to control people into being who she hoped they would be.
She lets their actions speak.
Then she decides what belongs in her life.
That is power.
5. Build Self-Trust Daily
Confidence does not come from waiting until everything is perfect.
Confidence comes from keeping small promises to yourself.
Drink the water.
Take the walk.
Set the boundary.
Rest when your body asks for rest.
Say no when your spirit already knows the answer is no.
Every time you honor yourself, you teach your nervous system:
“I can trust me.”
That is where real confidence begins.
6. Protect Your Peace Like It Is Sacred
Because it is.
If it costs your nervous system, it is too expensive.
If it constantly pulls you out of your body, it is too expensive.
If you have to abandon yourself to keep it, it is too expensive.
Peace is not boring.
Peace is safety.
And a woman who is safe within herself becomes very hard to manipulate, rush, pressure, or pull back into chaos.
7. Trust God, Timing, and Yourself
You do not have to chase what is meant for you.
You do not have to force what is aligned.
You do not have to grip everything so tightly.
There is a different way to live.
You can prepare.
You can show up.
You can take aligned action.
And you can still trust.
Trust God.
Trust timing.
Trust your own becoming.
Trust creates softness.
And softness creates space for what is truly meant for you to arrive.
The Woman You Become
When you step into your Soft Era, you do not become less.
You become more.
More grounded.
More magnetic.
More peaceful.
More powerful.
More yourself.
You stop proving.
You stop chasing.
You stop overexplaining.
You stop overgiving.
And you start receiving.
You start choosing.
You start honoring.
You start attracting.
You become the woman who does not have to ask, “Do you see me?”
Because your energy answers that before you ever speak.
You become the woman who does not have to chase love because she is no longer abandoning herself.
You become the woman who does not have to beg for peace because she protects it.
You become the woman who knows that softness is not weakness.
It is wisdom.
It is power.
It is alignment.
It is the quiet confidence of a woman who finally knows who she is.
Journal Prompts for Your Soft Era
Take this deeper with yourself:
Where am I still trying to earn love?
Where am I overgiving, overexplaining, or over-functioning?
What situations make me feel like I have to prove myself?
What would the safe, grounded version of me choose this week?
Where am I confusing chaos with connection?
What am I ready to release to protect my peace?
How can I create one soft, beautiful moment for myself today?
A Final Word
